CHEYENNE - Looking for a place to fish in Wyoming? Do you have questions about how to get to a particular stream or lake? Or maybe you want to know what species of fish are available in a given water. All of this information and more is available in the Wyoming Fishing Guide, now available online at wgfd.wyo.gov.
The Wyoming Fishing Guide takes you through Wyoming on a drainage-by-drainage basis. Collectively the guide has listings of 247 of the most popular streams, lakes, reservoirs and fishing locations found in Wyoming. The guide is separated into Wyoming’s five drainage areas and within each is a table that has a listing of popular waters along with the different species of fish present in each. The table also contains information on the availability of camping and if boat ramps and restroom facilities are present.
Other information includes a note on Wyoming’s stream access and trespass laws, and general information on where to obtain fishing regulations and licenses. In addition, to aid in fish identification, artwork depicting the different game fish species found in Wyoming is included.
For anglers wanting more detailed information, addresses and phone numbers of where to obtain maps is available along with contact information for each Game and Fish Regional office and the drainage each office serves.
What the fishing guide does not contain is the regulations for each drainage and specific regulations that are applicable to different waters. This information is found in the Wyoming Fishing Regulations. These regulations are available at more than 300 license agencies throughout the state, on the Game and Fish website and at Game and Fish regional offices.
