Wyoming's Call of the Wild

Wyoming's Call of the Wild TV Show LogoWyoming's Call of the Wild follows children and their families as they discover hunting and fishing adventures throughout Wyoming. The series began airing nationally on the Sportsman Channel in 2012. Each episode features a different youth selected to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime hunting or fishing adventure in the wilds of Wyoming. The show is part of the WGFD's efforts to recruit and retain hunters and anglers in Wyoming and to promote outdoor opportunities throughout the state. It airs weekly on the Sportsman Channel.

Jake Bullock Turkey Hunt

Episode 1

Jake Bullock has had more than his share of challenges. After losing his father to cancer, this Colorado teen has faced his own battle with the disease. Though he has officially beat it, cancer has kept him from the one place he needs to be most - the outdoors. Join Jake as he hunts turkeys with WGFD's Matt Withroder and Joe Sandrini near Newcastle.

Megan Carpenter Walleye Fishing

Episode 2

For the most part, Megan Carpenter leads a typical life for an American teenager, but battles with Grave's Disease have kept her from taking part in some of the magnificent outdoor opportunities Wyoming has to offer. Wyoming's Call of the Wild host Craig Conrad and members of the North Platte Walleyes Unlimited take Megan fishing for walleyes on Glendo Reservoir to show her what she has been missing.

Sara Schmitt Cutt-Slam

Episode 3

What happens when a California suburban teen finds herself in the wilds of Wyoming trying to complete one of angling's toughest challenges? Find out in this episode. Sara Schmitt is so busy with high school and extracurricular activities that she has no time for the outdoors. WGFD Fish Biologists Hilda Sexauer and Diana Miller teach this fishing neophyte to fly fish and guide her on her quest to catch all four subspecies of Wyoming cutthroat trout.

Sierra Amundson and Shannon Stockwell Pronghorn Hunt

Sierra Amundson has grown up in a hunting family. Her Dad, WGFD biologist Ryan Amundson, has taken her along on hunting adventures since before she could walk. Under her father's tutelage, this 14-year-oldhas already become an accomplished hunter. But many of her friends at Wheatland High School don't hunt and don't understand what it's all about. Find out what happens when Sierra recruits one of her best friends into the hunting culture on a pronghorn hunt near Wheatland.

Marnier LeBlanc lives the typical life of a suburban Denver teen. Unfortunately, these days that life doesn't include much of the outdoors. See what happens when Marnier learns to fly fish and floats one of Wyoming's most productive trout rivers-the North Platte near Casper.

Michael Dilworth Jackson Lake Fishing

Episode 6

Today's teenagers face more challenges and distractions than ever. Michael Dilworth, from Golden,Colorado, helps all of us put our challenges in perspective. Born with Down Syndrome, Michael has found that one of the greatest challenges is not what he can't do, but what other people think he can't do. Michael shows us what he can do in one of the most scenic spots in the world-at the base of the Grand Tetons, fishing with WGFD biologist Doug Brimeyer for trout in Jackson Lake.

Brody Arross Sage Grouse Hunt

Episode 7

Brody Arross is one of the most outgoing kids you'll ever meet. This Casper teen loves the outdoors and finds his outdoor experiences a welcome distraction from some of the bullying issues he faces at school. Though Brody has done some hunting, he has never pursued Wyoming's signature bird-the sage grouse. WGFD biologists Tom Christiansen and Mark Zornes host Brody on a memorable hunt in southwest Wyoming.

Outdoor Dream Foundation Mule Deer Hunt

Episode 8

Working with the Outdoor Dream Foundation, which provides outdoor experiences for critically ill kids,the Wyoming Game and Fish Department brought brothers Wil and Dustin Gleason from South Carolina to Wyoming for their first mule deer hunt. Both brothers are recovering from brain cancer, and the healing power of Wyoming's great outdoors makes a lasting impact on these brave kids and their family.

Nathan and Alyssa Hall Pheasant Hunt

Episode 9

Brother and Sister duo Nathan and Alyssa Hall have had it tough over the past few years, finding themselves shuffled between their divorced parents and suffering mental and physical abuse. These experiences have brought them closer to each other. And now, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a guided pheasant hunt in southeast Wyoming brings them even closer together.

Levi Wiley Fly Fishing

Episode 10

Levi Wiley is not your typical Tennessee teenager. His father is in prison, and he has been shuffled between foster homes for years. Today, he's back with his mother, trying to make up for lost time, but the outdoors is a part of his life that has been missing. Levi teams up with Joey's Fly Fishing Foundation in Sheridan, Wyoming, to make up for lost time in the outdoors and to hook in to big Wyoming fish.

Scott Talbott and Family

Episode 11

Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Scott Talbott grew up hunting and fishing in Wyoming. His passion for our wildlife resources and outdoor traditions led to his career with the department and his drive to conserve those resources for future generations. Today, hunting is still an important part of Scott's life, especially when it comes to spending time with his family. In this episode, he joins his son, Payden, and members of his extended family on a weekend pheasant hunt near Worland. The highlight
of the weekend comes when Scott's niece tries to get
her first pheasant.

Kyle Thomas Elk Hunt

Episode 12

Kyle Thomas and his mother have experienced their share of challenges, including abusive relationships. Over the years, these experiences have made their mother-son relationship stronger. On this episode of Wyoming's Call of the Wild, their relationship becomes even stronger through a shared introduction to elk hunting.

Governor Mead and Family

Episode 13

Even in an outdoor state like Wyoming, families can have difficulty finding the time to get out hunting and fishing. This is even the case for Wyoming's Chief Executive and his family. See what happens when Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and his family set aside an entire weekend to fish on the family ranch. As with any family, these outdoor experiences lead to treasured memories that bring a family closer together.
