Muscle Tapeworms



   “Meat Measles”
 
  • 2 host life cycle. 
  • Definitive host is carnivore (wolf, coyote, dog, lion, bobcat)
  • Intermediate host is herbivore (moose and mule deer most commonly, also elk and white tail and rabbits). 
  • Cysts typically in the muscle of herbivores – though can travel to other locations
  • Not infectious to humans, but do not feed to pets!
