Hepatic Lipidosis




     "Fatty Liver"
 
  • Accumulation of abnormal amounts of fat in liver when fats are mobilized rapidly and excessive amounts of free fatty acids delivered to the liver. 
  • Causes enlarged pale yellow liver. 
  • Generally resolves in elk after the rut, when they start to feed again. 
  • Typically does not cause significant outward disease – but can lead to some amount of impaired liver function. 
  • No concern for consumption
