Laramie - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department warns people recreating on the Wick/Beumee Wildlife Habitat Management Area near Arlington to use caution during a habitat enhancement project on the property, and to note an upcoming road closure.
The habitat enhancement project involves removing conifer trees with chainsaws on the east and west sides of Forest Service Road 111, Sand Lake Road, within the Wick WHMA. “We want people to be aware of the chainsaw operations in progress and remind everyone to stay a safe distance away from the work,” said Micah Morris, Habitat and Access biologist for the Laramie Region. The project is expected to be complete in early August.
A one-day road closure will affect anyone wanting to access the Wick property on Monday, July 8. Wagonhound Exit 267off Interstate 80 will be closed this day to allow paving around the Wagonhound Rest Area. To access the Wick/Beumee WHMA property on July 8, drivers will need to use Exit 260 (Country Road 402) off Interstate 80.
