WGFD offering refunds to deer hunters impacted by Ryan Fire

The U.S. Forest Service has implemented an area closure around the Ryan Fire in southern Wyoming to ensure protection of the public and fire personnel. The closure will affect hunters with Deer Hunt Area 81 Limited Quota licenses.

Laramie - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department may refund license fees for Deer Hunt Area 81 Limited Quota licenses if the license is returned, unaltered and with all coupons intact. Hunters holding these licenses should receive a letter in the mail with additional information on applying for a refund.
Hunters with Deer Area 81 Type 1 licenses also have the option of a carryover. The unused license and license review board form must be returned / postmarked by October 1 and the hunter cannot have hunted during the special archery season. If carryover option is selected, the huner can purchase a general license this year (residents only) as soon as the Area 81 Type 1 license is cleared from system.

The Ryan Fire began on Sept. 15 in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness area about 25 miles northwest of Walden, Colo., and quickly spread into Wyoming. The area closure will remain in effect until rescinded by the Forest Service.
