Laramie - If you have been looking for a chance to get your child excited about fishing and the outdoors, the perfect opportunity is coming up on June 3. Maury Brown has invited The WYldlife Fund and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to help inspire new anglers on his 300-acre stocked pond at the Iron Mountain Ranch, 60 miles northwest of Cheyenne.
The event, hosted on statewide free fishing day, is open to 300 kids. In addition to accessing a great fishing spot, all youth participants will receive a free t-shirt, fishing pole, and fully stocked tackle box. Attendees can also look forward to casting lessons, fish cleaning demonstrations, hands-on biology activities, and a free hamburger and hot dog lunch.
Interested participants must register by May 15, and registration is only open to the first 300 kids. All minors are required to be accompanied by an adult. Transportation is also available between Cheyenne and the Iron Mountain Ranch. Those details and a schedule for the day’s activities can be found in the registration form.
Last year was the inaugural Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day, and 217 kids attended. When interviewed about the event, Maury Brown highlighted the importance of giving those kids early opportunities to experience the outdoors. Together with Brown and The WYldlife Fund, the Game and Fish is excited to bring Wyoming youth another year of this great event.
