Sage Grouse Working Group to Meet

Jackson - The Upper Snake River Basin Sage Grouse Working Group will hold its next meeting at 1:00pm, Monday, January 8, at the Wyoming Game and Fish Office in Jackson (420 North Cache Street).
Topics to be discussed at the meeting include:
- Review of the 2017 lek survey data
- Update on the statewide wing survey data
- 2017 annual WGFD report for the USRB grouse population
- Status of the Spread Creek telemetry study and current bird distribution
- Potential for a winter survey in 2018 if we have good snow cover
- Status of the Wildlife Hazard plan for the JH airport
- Update on the negotiations to revise the sage grouse conservation plans in the federal land use plans as proposed by Secretary Zinke

The group is one of eight regional working groups statewide. Each is composed of citizens representing groups interested in sage grouse conservation. The group develops and initiates conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, when feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.
