RMEF commits $236,930 for Game and Fish led conservation projects
The Wyoming chapters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) recently
committed $532,676 to projects in Wyoming with $236,930 going to the Wyoming Game and
Fish Department to support 23 Game and Fish led projects. These funds will go toward projects
addressing a variety of needs including: the Access Yes program, fence conversions, aspen
enhancements, post-fire restoration, weed treatments, conifer removal, meadow enhancements,
water development, prescribed fire efforts as well as migration and disease research.
“The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation continues to provide generous support for projects
throughout Wyoming. Their significant contributions allows for habitat, research and hunting
access projects that benefit wildlife and sportspeople,” said Ian Tator, Game and Fish statewide
terrestrial habitat manager. “Without the funds from RMEF, many of these projects would not be

With the funds raised annually, RMEF frequently supports Game and Fish initiatives like Access
Yes and habitat enhancement and conservation projects within Wyoming.
Since 1986, RMEF and its partners have completed 716 land protection, habitat stewardship
and hunting heritage outreach projects with a combined value of more than $135.3 million in
Wyoming, including the use of conservation easements, acquisitions, prescribed fire, weed
treatments, re-seeding, forest and browse thinning, water development and research studies.
These projects have protected or enhanced more than 1.3 million acres and have also improved
or opened access to more than 151,000 acres for outdoor recreationists.
