Muley Fanatic Foundation supports families’ engagement with outdoors
The Southeast Wyoming Chapter of the Muley Fanatic Foundation held a Camo Cache collection to benefit the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Forever Wild Families program at its 3rd annual fundraising banquet. Game and Fish expresses its appreciation for this support.

The Muley Fanatic Foundation is a non-profit conservation organization that aims to ensure the conservation of mule deer and their habitat. The Muley Fanatic Foundation also provides services to further the sport of hunting and sound wildlife management. Members donated nearly 200 items consisting of gently used and brand new clothing and gear such as knives, tackle, packs, glasses, jackets, rain gear, gloves and hats and other items for men, women and children.

These items will be used to outfit Forever Wild Families participants as they head out in the field. The  Forever Wild Families program provides families with limited hunting or fishing experience an opportunity to participate in a series of customized outings to become familiar with different outdoor activities in a safe and ethical environment. About 40 families, totaling 175 individuals from Cheyenne, Cody, Lander, Laramie, Powell and Riverton, have participated in the program.

The donated items become the property of the participants upon successful completion of their first year in the program. Having the proper equipment ensures that the families will feel comfortable and enjoy spending time outdoors, and become lifelong outdoor enthusiasts.

Involvement in outdoor activities is possible in part because of support from local, grassroots conservation organizations like the Muley Fanatic Foundation.

“Partnering with local organizations on a formal recycling program for outdoor gear benefits families as they learn about outdoor recreation options in Wyoming. The sheer cost of outfitting a family for outdoor activities can be prohibitive,” said Tasha Sorensen, program coordinator. “The Forever Wild Families Camo Cache program aims to remove this barrier to families that would like to spend time together outdoors.”Visit the Forever Wild Families website to learn more about the program.
