Topography and Vegetation: This area is made up of East and West Gros Ventre Buttes which are moderately steep sagebrush/grass hillsides. The Snake River floodplain and lower Gros Ventre River bottom contain many housing subdivisions. Riparian cottonwoods and spruce/fir are found along the rivers. Farm and irrigated ranchland are interspersed throughout the hunt area.
General Statement Regarding this Hunt Area: A resident population of elk is located in this area year-round, and numbers increase substantially during the migration. This hunt area is almost all private land where access is controlled. Due to the large number of private homesites and development, access is difficult.

Dusky and ruffed grouse are locally abundant in forested regions in the area.
