BOW Camp - Women tying a fly

The Wyoming Game & Department is excited to offer two Becoming an Outdoors-Woman programs - the traditional B.O.W., and Beyond B.O.W. - Hunting!

At the traditional Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, learn the basics of canoeing, archery, fly-tying, shooting skills, backpacking, outdoor photography and much more. Held June 26 - 28, 2020 at the Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp outside Dubois, WY this is a great opportunity for 45 women who have an interest in learning outdoor skills—skills usually associated with hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. All classes are taught at the entry level in a safe, non-intimidating, outdoor setting. Registration fee is $150.

Beyond B.O.W. - Hunting is for 20 women who want to learn comprehensive skills to begin hunting. Participants will be able to choose rifle, shotgun or archery instruction during the Hunting Methods section, as well as complete a Hunter Education Internet Field Day.

A Mentoring Camp will be held concurrently with Beyond-B.O.W - Hunting, for 10 experienced hunters and/or anglers who would like to learn mentoring skills as well as how to develop effective best-practice mentoring programs for hunting and fishing.

Beyond B.O.W. - Hunting and the Mentoring Camp are held in partnership with the Safari Club International Foundation, around September 9 - 13 at the SCIF Granite Ranch, in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Jackson. Final details are being worked out, and more information will be available by the end of March.

All B.O.W. attendees and mentors must be at least 18 years old to apply. B.O.W. participation is chosen by a random draw. For traditional B.O.W., group applications are accepted of up to four, and for Beyond B.O.W. - Hunting group applications of two will be accepted. If not selected, application fees will be returned.

Call or email Kathryn Boswell ( at 307-777-3412 with any questions, or to receive the application when available.

The application postmark deadline for BOW is April 13 and Beyond BOW applications must be at the Cheyenne Game & Fish office by 3pm May 15.
Please contact Kathryn Boswell if you are interested in the mentoring camp.
