The Wyoming Game and Fish Department law enforcement officers depend on information from concerned members of the public to help solve wildlife crimes. The Stop Poaching Hotline is answered 24-hours a day, 7-days a week by dispatchers who take the information and relay it to game wardens for investigation. Here’s how you can report:

  • Call the Stop Poaching Hotline – 1-877-WGFD-TIP
  • Text a tip – Text keyword “WGFD” to tip411
  • Report a violation online

When you report a Stop Poaching tip include detailed information about the situation such as location, vehicle description, suspect descriptions and the suspected violation time and date.

During 2018, the Game and Fish received 349 Stop Poaching tips reporting possible wildlife violations. In some cases, tips turned out to not be violations or suspects could not be identified. So far, tips received in 2018 have resulted in 46 citations and 15 warnings issued to wildlife violators. Several more tips are still under investigation by game wardens and wildlife investigators. These investigations have resulted in guilty dispositions against 24 wildlife violators with total fines of $10,730.  Several violators also received suspensions of their hunting, fishing and trapping privileges.

People who report wildlife violations may be eligible for a cash reward paid by the Wyoming Wildlife Protectors Association.  In 2018, a total of $16,100 in cash rewards was paid to 17 different individuals. Please help protect your wildlife by supporting Wyoming’s Stop Poaching program.
