The Game and Fish hatcheries and rearing stations are very busy! On average, we stock over 450 waters with nearly 5 million fish each year. Additionally, we conduct trades with other states’ fish and wildlife agencies. Through trades, we are able to obtain and stock several million cool and warm water fish each year. For example, we’ll trade some Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout -a Story Hatchery specialty- for Catfish.
