ASK GAME & FISH

If you have a passion for hunting heritage that you want to share with others, you’ve already met the first requirement to becoming a hunter educator instructor. To get started as a volunteer, we ask that you fill out an application and undergo a background check. Next we will help you earn your instructor certification by pairing you with a mentor and inviting you to regional hunter education conference to help you master the curriculum. Once certified, you are required to teach or co-teach at least one class every two years.

We are looking for instructors all throughout Wyoming. Instructors must be at least 18 years old in reasonably good health, pass all background checks and have high moral character. Instructors must hold a valid hunter educator card from any state and have experience with firearms and hunting. Having skills in public speaking and teaching are beneficial, too.

To volunteer, contact me at (307) 777-4542 or e-mail george.oberstadt@wyo.gov. You can make a difference for new hunters in Wyoming.
