WILDLIFE IN WYOMING

Verified Grizzly Bear Killed Livestock

-Verified two (2) calves as killed or injured by grizzly bears in the Pinedale Region.
 
Research and Monitoring
 
-Retrieved radio collars (n=2) to determine circumstances of removal; both collars had been naturally shed.  Additional location data provided from collars will be useful for population monitoring purposes.
 
Bear Management (Captures, Relocations, and Removals)
 
-Captured and relocated two (2) subadult male grizzly bears in the Cody Region that had been frequenting residential areas.
 
Law Enforcement and Related Activities
-Investigated multiple bear encounters with hunters and recreationists in Cody and Lander Regions.
 
-Investigated the circumstances involved with a person injured by a grizzly bear north of Dubois, WY.   
 
Outreach and Education
 
-Through use of email, direct field contacts, and check stations interacted with hundreds of hunters in order to discuss bear safety and proactive solutions to bear conflicts.
 
-Conducted multiple media interviews regarding grizzly bear management and bear safety/awareness.
