WILDLIFE IN WYOMING

Verified Grizzly Bear Killed Livestock

      -     Verified three (3) yearlings and three (3) calves as being killed or injured by grizzly bears
on Forest Service grazing allotments in the Pinedale Region.
 
     -     Verified one (1) calf as being killed or injured by grizzly bears on private lands in the
Pinedale Region.
 
     -     Verified one (1) calf as being injured by a grizzly bear on a National Forest grazing
allotment in the Jackson Region.
 
Research and Monitoring
 
-Captured and radiocollared one adult female with a cub of the year.
 
-Completed grizzly bear observation flights throughout the system.
 
Bear Management (Captures, Relocations, and Removals)
 
-Captured and removed an adult male grizzly bear from private lands in the Pinedale Region for repeatedly damaging structures and obtaining anthropogenic food rewards in both the Pinedale and Cody Regions during 2015.
 
Law Enforcement and Related Activities
-Nothing to report.
 
Outreach and Education
 
-Assisted a honey producer with setting up an electric fence around bee hives near Jackson.
 
-Removed a moose carcass from a residential area near Wilson.
 
-Conducted multiple television, radio, and newsprint interviews about bear activity and general bear awareness.
 
-Updated Bear Wise information and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s new website and provided links to information on safety and grizzly bear ecology and management.
