How to get there - Packstring Creek is a long way from anywhere, but right on a paved road. From Smoot, take highway 89 about 14 miles south to where Packstring Creek joins with Salt Creek. Look for a designated place to pull off the road to reach this segment that extends another 1.3 miles upstream. This is a spawning and rearing stream so don't expect to find many adult fish over 6 inches here, though they may be there during the peak of runoff.
