Ask the Game and Fish

1/13/2014

Q. Is there a trapping season for coyotes?

A. Coyotes are legally classified as a predatory animal and as such there is no closed season governing their take. However, keep in mind that as with furbearing animals, when trapping coyotes, your traps must be marked or tagged with the name and address of the owner. Information on trap identification, time periods for checking traps and types of traps or snares that can be used is found on pages 7-8 of the Furbearing Trapping Regulations.
