Roger Bredehoft Retires After More Than 30 Years of Service

10/1/2012

CHEYENNE - North Laramie Game Warden Roger Bredehoft has retired from the Game and Fish Department after more than 30 years of service.

He began his career with the Game and Fish as seasonal game warden in Laramie. He also served as biologist in Baggs and Cheyenne before being promoted to game warden in Green River in 1983. In 1984 he transferred to Jeffrey City as game warden where he served for five years. In 1989 he became game warden in Wheatland and in 1999 transferred to Laramie as the north Laramie game warden.

Laramie Region Wildlife Supervisor Rick King said Bredehoft’s service has contributed to some lasting benefits for hunters and anglers. “Throughout his career, Roger has worked hard maintaining public access for hunting and fishing,” King said. “Roger was the Wheatland game warden when the Department’s Private Land Public Wildlife program started. The work he did in getting this program up and going in Platte County helped ensure the program’s long term success.”

King said that Bredehoft has logged hundreds if not thousands of hours on eastern Wyoming reservoirs enforcing boating safety laws and investigating boating accidents. “Roger has displayed an admirable level of commitment and ability fulfilling the wildlife management responsibilities in each of the districts he has been assigned,” Kingsaid.

A Sterling, Colo. Native, Bredehoft earned an associate’s degree from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. After serving in the Army for two years, he attended the University of Northern Colorado earning a bachelor’s degree in special education. He then attended the University of Wyoming earning a master’s degree in zoology.
