LARAMIE - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be holding public information gathering meetings this week on proposed changes to the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) regulation that would go into effect beginning 2013.
Under the proposed regulation all watercraft entering Wyoming by land will be required to have an AIS inspection prior to contacting or entering the waters of the state. To implement this change the Game and Fish will have watercraft check stations at 10-12 locations around the state at Port of Entries or other locations near borders and major routes of travel. There will also be other locations across the state where inspections will be available. Those locations will be listed on the Game and Fish website once they become finalized.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend one of the public meetings to gather input on the proposed changes. All meetings start at 7 p.m. at the following locations:
• Green River - Sept. 25 Green River WGFD Regional Office
• Alpine - Sept. 26 Alpine Civic Center
• Cheyenne - Sept. 27 WGFD Headquarters (also live on web)
The meeting on Sept. 27 in Cheyenne will be available for live viewing and commenting on the web by visiting the following link: http://bit.ly/GFinvasive.
