CHEYENNE - The WGFD sent out a mailing this week to all 503 hunters who drew moose licenses for the 2012 hunting season.
Moose seasons are now underway in a number of areas in Wyoming and more will be opening on Oct. 1. As with other hunts, it is important that hunters report their success for the 2012 hunting season. In recent years much of the survey work has been accomplished online, said WGFD harvest survey coordinator Gail Sheridan.
The survey card asks hunters to complete their survey online and provides the web address along with a password needed to access the survey. Sheridan said the Game and Fish hopes more hunters will complete their survey online, which will save time and money compared to sending a paper survey. Hunters who have not replied online by Nov.23 will receive a paper survey in the mail.
Sheridan emphasized it is important that all hunters respond to the online moose survey even if they were checked in the field. Surveys provide important information on the status of the herds. Information is used to develop future management strategies.
