Tim Fagan Retires After 37 Years of Service

08/6/2012

CHEYENNE - South Cody Game Warden Tim Fagan has retired after 37 years of service with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Fagan began his career as Habitat Technician at Elk Mountain. He also worked as an elk feeder, construction worker, and truck driver for the Game and Fish before being promoted to the Cody damage control warden in 1977. In 1989 he was made the Game Warden for the South Cody District.

He has received numerous awards including the Shikar Safari Wildlife Officer of the Year award and the Cody region peer recognition award. A native of Grand Island Neb., he attended the University of Wyoming graduating with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management.

He has been lauded by his co-workers for his law enforcement skills and has been involved in numerous important wildlife investigations over the years.

Recognizing his abilities, Chief Game Warden Brian Nesvik said, “Tim spent a career working in the most remote and dangerous wild country in the lower 48.”

Nesvik said that Tim was the epitome of the professional high mountain game warden – a talented wildlife manager, professional and fair law enforcement officer, and true horsemen.

“Tim remains a role model and mentor to many of our employees and is admired for his abilities to treat everyone he encounters with dignity and respect,” Nesvik said. “His positive attitude, wildlife expertise, and unique laugh will be sorely missed.”
