Q. Is it legal to chum fish in Wyoming?
A. Chumming (the practice of placing bait in the water to attract fish) is legal as long as it is in a water where bait fishing is allowed. On waters where fishing is permitted by use of artificial lures or flies only, use or possession of bait is prohibited. Often when anglers ask about chumming, they are referring to the use of corn for this practice. In Wyoming, it is illegal to use corn for bait or for chumming. It is also illegal to possess corn while fishing.
