Q. Is it legal to hunt cottontails with an air rifle?
A. Yes it is. There are no restrictions on the type of weapons for hunting small game. Other animals classified as small game include snowshoe hares, red squirrels, gray squirrels, and fox squirrels. Information on legal weapons for small game and game birds is found on page 7 of the Upland Game/Small Game Regulations.
