Q. Is there a regulation that restricts the size of hole that can be used for ice fishing or the number of holes that can be cut?
A. There is no restriction on the number of holes that can be cut, but there is a restriction on the number of lines you can use. On waters covered under the Special Winter Ice Fishing Provision, no more than six lines can be used. On most waters, anglers may fish with two lines. There is no restriction on the size of hole that can be used, but for safety's sake, small holes prevent anglers from falling through a snow-camouflaged hole where the ice thickness isthinner than the rest of the lake.
