In order to hunt bison in Wyoming, you must apply for placement on the bison priority list. This list ranks hunters in the order they may be contacted when the department determines a wild bison hunting opportunity exists. You can apply for a male wild bison (Type 1) or a female/calf wild bison (Type 4) license. If you are selected to participate in a hunt, you will be required to purchase the wild bison license at that time.
