Bowhunter Education Offered in Torrington February 22

2/3/2014

CHEYENNE - It may not be mandatory in Wyoming, but bowhunter education is touted by many experienced archers, so a class is being offered Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.

The class uses the internationally recognized curriculum of the National Bowhunter Education Program and is required for all bowhunters in several other states, including neighboring Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Idaho.

The class will be taught by veteran archer and certified volunteer instructor Jeff Capron. The class costs $10 and archers can enroll by calling Capron at (307) 272-2740. Pre-registration is required.

“Many archers have requested the class in Wyoming to improve their skills and show their dedication to the sport,” said Jim Dawson, Game and Fish hunter education coordinator.

Bowhunter education is also recommended and endorsed by the Bowhunters of Wyoming, a statewide archery organization with a membership of more than 400 archers and 16 affiliated clubs.
