Ask the Game and Fish

7/22/2013

Q. Do I need a life jacket when fishing out of a float tube?

A. Not unless your float tube has a motor. Float tubes are considered water sport toys in Wyoming and as such, a life jacket is not required. However, if it has a motor—even an electric motor—it becomes a motorized watercraft and in addition to having a life jacket on board, it must also be registered and numbered thesame as other motorized watercraft.
