CHEYENNE - Bob Montemayor, maintenance supervisor for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department in Cheyenne, recently retired after nearly 37 years of service.
A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Cheyenne, Montemayor began his Game and Fish career in 1976. He is an accomplished musician and the long-time drummer for the Sauvecito Band (“suavecito” means “smooth” in Spanish).
Montemayor was honored as the Administrative and Fiscal Services Division Employee of the Year in 1988 and received a special recognition award from the department in 2004 for his top-notch and diligent service at the Cheyenne office.
Throughout his career, Montemayor handled all of the maintenance responsibilities for the Game and Fish headquarters building including snow removal, routine building and grounds maintenance, assembling and fixing office furniture, and various employee requests.
"Bob treated the Cheyenne headquarters facilities and grounds as if it were his own,” said Dave Bumann, chief engineer for Game and Fish. “With care and concern, he meticulously maintained a facility that operated smoothly and seamlessly no matter what the issue of the day was. Most remarkable is that Bob performed this daily for almost 37 years with a silent diligence that was much appreciated by the general public and employees of the department."
