Ask the Game and Fish

12/10/2012

Q. Do I need a trapping license for coyotes and red fox?

A. No, you don’t. Red fox and coyotes are legally classified as predators in Wyoming, and as such, no trapping license is required. Trapping licenses are required for all animals classified as furbearers regardless if the method of take is by trapping or other weapons. Animals classified as furbearers include beaver, bobcat, badger, muskrat, mink, pine martin, and weasel.
