CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) will host the Fourth Annual Wyoming - National Archery in Schools Program (NASP®) State Virtual Tournament Feb. 20 - March 2.
The tournament is open to 4th - 12th graders competing in elementary, middle, and high school divisions. The tournament is conducted virtually, allowing the young archers to shoot in their home gym and record their scores on-line. Last year, nearly 400 Cowboy State students from 17 schools shot as teams and individuals in the tournament. Since March 2002, more than 7.1 million students at over 7,400 schools across the country have participated in NASP®.
With qualifying scores, archers can advance to the national tournament in Louisville, Ky. May 11-12.
To shoot in the tournament, archers need to pay a $5 entry fee used to cover the cost of tournament shirts and awards, and teachers must be NASP® certified. Register at www.nasptournaments.org. Access to registration is available to the NASP® instructor via their "Basic Archery Instruction" registration number.
The tournament begins Feb. 20 and all scores must be submitted by March 2, 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. For more information or to get your school involved in the tournament please contact the WGFD's Tasha Sorensen at (307) 777-4536, email@example.com or visit the WGFD website and click on "Education, Educator Information."
