Waterfowl Seasons
Important Waterfowl Season Information

Stock ponds and beaver ponds throughout the state can offer fine, early season jump shooting for local and early migrating ducks. Wetlands in higher elevations such as the Laramie Plains mid-to late-October produce a lot of ducks, but often freeze by mid-to late-October, so waterfowl hunting can be spectacular, but short-lived.

Waterfowl Hunt Area Summary Map

The major waterfowl harvest areas of the state include the Big Horn and Shoshone River corridors in the Big Horn Basin and the lower North Platte River corridor through Converse, Platte and Goshen counties. Other rivers, such as the Green, Wind and Salt, also offer good hunting, but can freeze earlier in the season.
