CONSERVING WILDLIFE
- SERVING PEOPLE -
Any activity that moves equipment or water from one area to another can potentially spread aquatic invasive species. Some potential pathways of concern include fire fighting, water hauling, construction activities, and even sea planes.
You can STOP THE SPREAD by following these three easy steps after using any equipment in a water:
1. DRAIN all water from your equipment.
2. CLEAN all mud, plants and debris from equipment.
3. DRY equipment thoroughly before using it in another water. Avoid transfer of water between watersheds whenever possible.
The U.S. Forest Service has recently published guidelines to reduce the spread of AIS through fire fighting activities.
