Sand Creek Public Access Area

Whether you enjoy fishing for wild brown trout, hearing the gobble of strutting wild turkeys, or viewing a white-tailed doe and her fawns at dusk or daylight, Sand Creek Wildlife Habitat and Access Management Area has something to offer you. The area is approximately three miles south of Beulah in the foothills of the Black Hills region. This 284-acre area was acquired primarily to provide habitat for white-tailed deer and public fishing access to approximately 1.75 miles of Sand Creek, a class 1 fishery.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission lands are open for public fishing, hunting and camping, although hunting is limited because of the small size of the area.

Under an agreement between the Ox Yoke Ranch and the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, anglers have access to an additional 2.75 miles of Sand Creek adjacent to the Commission lands. There are no facilities developed on this stretch of stream and the agreement is for fishing only.

Sand Creek offers opportunities for wildlife observation and other outdoor activities. Explore the diverse and unique riparian habitat along the stream while looking for king fishers, mink and garter snakes.

Sand Creek is open all year.
